Do you have a heart that yearns to show Jesus’ compassion and love to the poor and the needy? If your answer is yes, then the "Port au Prince - Haiti DTS” is for you!
On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake devastated the capitol city of Port au Prince, Haiti killing an estimated 250,000 people. Some 1,000,000 people are currently homeless, living in tent cities with inadequate food, sanitation and water. The average life expectancy in Haiti is merely 57 years old while the literacy rate is shockingly only 50%. Haiti is considered the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, yet we have seen unprecedented church growth and people committing their lives to Jesus after the earthquake. No longer are the people turning to the false gods of voodoo.
YWAM

Port-au-Prince
The Christian churches of the nation have come together in unity, as never before, in order to solve the problems of the nation. Even the president, who in years past would always publicly proclaim his support for voodoo, has now (although unlikely an believer himself) sided with the body of Christ because he sees the power and influence a revived church can have. Now is the time for Haiti. Stand on any street corner, close your eyes to pray for an individual, and when your eyes are opened there will be a line of others asking for prayers of salvation, healing and comfort. It truly is a society griped in the fires of revival!!!!!
This DTS in Port au Prince aims to address issues of poverty and injustice in a nation and a world gone wrong. We believe that God has called us to champion those with both physical and spiritual need. We will be a voice for the voiceless: loving the orphaned, praying for the sick, and bringing practical solutions to people’s daily physical needs.
The earthquake was centered in the governmental area of the capitol which resulted in the deaths of many of the leaders in the nation. Our DTS will focus largely on raising up Haiti’s next generation of leaders with strong character and a passion for a biblical world view, as Haiti positions herself to be a blessing in the future!
This video is some examples of the work done in Haiti by YWAM and other organizations.

In the first 12 weeks of the school, amazing international Christian speakers will instruct you on how to know God and make Him known, topics will include:
The character and nature of God
Hearing the voice of God
How to know and communicate God’s word effectively
Biblical World View
Intercession and spiritual warfare, and the harm of voodoo
Worship and Prayer
Restoration of the heart and mind
Fellowship with, and the power of, the Holy Spirit

Missions and Evangelism
Alongside this phase, we will be linked closely to the needs of those suffering in Port au Prince. Weekend kids soccer tournaments, medical clinics, construction projects and tent city evangelism will be passionately pursued during the class room phase.
Outreach Learning Phase
After a dynamic and life altering Classroom phase, you will be sent on an outreach to put into practice all that you have received. During this time you will be connecting with local ministries and churches, walking with them in the Great commission, of making Jesus Known both spiritually and practically.
Outreach may look like any of the following:
- Leading a children’s soccer camp in the county side of Haiti
- Working with HIV aids babies in an orphanage in Port au Prince
- Traveling to Benin West Africa, praying against the destructive forces of voodoo, which have been imported to Haiti from Benin
- Ministering among the reggae Rastafarians in Kingston Jamaica
- Building a small home for a family who has lost everything in last year’s earthquake
- Other ministries (we remain open to the Spirit's leading)
God holds the solutions to all the above, He is simply waiting for you to be his hands and feet in a world who desperately needs to know Him.
Meet your school leaders
Sean and Jill, Brendan 14, Reid 12 and Grace 9 have been involved with YWAM Kona for 12 years. As a family they share a heart for the poor and needy and for raising up the next generation of leaders submitted to Jesus. As a family they have ministered together in Samoa, Fiji, China, Mexico and other places. They have led numerous DTS’s. Sean ministered years ago in Haiti and speaks the native language. After visiting Haiti only weeks after last January’s earthquake, they decided to partner with YWAM Port au Prince and direct the first DTS ever to be held in Port au Prince.

“We invite you, and ask you to join us this summer in the Caribbean nation of Haiti.
